Will Freedom Pass be abolished?
Is the Freedom Pass being scrapped? As a part of TfL’s financial support deal, Freedom Pass holders will no longer be able to use their cards at busy times. For now, you are safe to use your Freedom Pass as you wish, as long as you are making an essential journey.

Passes are not valid on Gatwick Express, Heathrow Express or any long distance inter-city train that does not stop at intermediate stations within the freedom pass area. Although you can go around in Brighton tapping on and off with your Freedom Pass, unfortunately, you cannot use it to travel from London to Brighton neither by train nor by a coach of the National Express.
